Self Esteem

Life is all about self esteem.  If we do not value ourselves as individuals, nothing else will work.  We decide that we do not deserve a good life, a good job, a loving respectful mate...

we treat ourselves badly because that is all we think we deserve.

If you remember only one thing for the rest of your life, let it be this: It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of you because you are not going to allow someone else to tell you how to act, feel or think. What is more important than anything else is that you are the person you tell yourself and believe yourself to be. Don't let anyone else tell you who you are, you tell yourself who you want to be.

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
-Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962)

Finding your self esteem, learning to love and value yourself, is a road that only you can take.  It is such a personal, internal thing, that no outside influence can really change it.   You must decide, somewhere within yourself, that things must change.  There is no praise great enough to make you proud of yourself.  There is no outside love deep enough to make you love yourself.

"When we think of failure; Failure will be ours. If we remain undecided; Nothing will ever change. All we need to do is want to achieve something great and then simply to do it. Never think of failure For what we think, will come about."
-Maharishi Mahesh Yogi-

"You've no idea what a poor opinion I have of myself - and how little I deserve it."
-William Gilbert (1836-1911)

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
